JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta DPRD member Ade Suherman supports the steps taken by DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung in conducting job fairs or job exchanges regularly.

Ade assessed that job fair can open access for job seekers and companies that need new workers.

"This could be an opportunity for many people to get jobs that suit their skills," said Ade in his statement, Tuesday, March 11.

Ade also encouraged the DKI Provincial Government to hold a job fair in digital or online format. According to him, digitalization should be part of the employment strategy in Jakarta.

The government needs to develop an online platform that makes it easier for people to access job vacancies information anytime and anywhere. That way, job opportunities can be wider and not limited to certain events," he said.

In DKI Jakarta's employment data as of August 2024, the open unemployment rate (TPT) reached 6.21 percent. This figure is still higher than the national average of 4.91 percent.

Then in January 2025, 3,325 people were recorded as affected by national layoffs (PHK), with DKI Jakarta contributing 2,650 cases or about 80 percent of the total national.

From this condition, Ade hopes that this job fair program can continue to be improved and combined with technology-based innovations to be more effective in reducing the unemployment rate in Jakarta.

"If digitalization is carried out properly and sustainably, the labor market can be formed more inclusive and not limited to sub-districts or municipalities and can be a real solution in opening up job opportunities and improving the welfare of the people of Jakarta," he added.
