Five People Died Due To Floods And Landslides In Sukabumi, Four Victims In Search

SUKABUMI The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) reported that the floods and landslides that occurred in Sukabumi Regency, West Java Province, had resulted in the death of five people. Meanwhile, four other victims are still being searched by the joint SAR team.

"The victim is still being searched for by the joint SAR team," said Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center Abdul Muhari in his official statement in Jakarta, Sunday night (8/3/2025).

BNPB confirmed that the five victims who died were Eneng Sabiti (40), Siti Nurul Awlia (8), Nendi Saputra (7), Ooy (69), and Yayar (70). Meanwhile, the four victims who are still being searched are Drajat (60), Siti Maryam (35), Ahyar Fauzi (9), and Mondi (9).

This disaster had a broad impact, with a total of 12 villages affected by flooding and 30 villages in 22 sub-districts experiencing landslides. BNPB stated that currently the flood had completely receded, but the emergency response team was still in the field to carry out rescue and recovery efforts.

As an emergency response measure, the district government has deployed heavy equipment such as excavators to help search for victims and clean up landslide material. In addition, three emergency posts have been activated to assist the handling of refugees and the recovery of the impact of the disaster.

The BNPB appealed to the public to remain alert to potential aftershocks, given weather conditions that still have extreme potential in several areas. The government also continues to coordinate with various parties to ensure that assistance and recovery can run well for the affected victims.

With the ongoing emergency conditions, BNPB and the joint SAR team continue to work hard in the search for victims who are still missing. The community is expected to remain alert and follow directions from the authorities to avoid further risks due to this disaster.
