West Bandung Bawaslu Chairman Arrested In Drug Cases Immediately Replaced

JAKARTA - The Indonesian General Elections Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) immediately replaced the Chairman of the West Bandung Regency Bawaslu Riza Nasrul Falah who was arrested by the police for allegedly being involved in a drug abuse case.

"The change of chairman (Bawaslu West Bandung Regency), we will do it as soon as possible," said Chairman of the Indonesian Bawaslu Rahmat Bagja when contacted from Jakarta, Friday, March 7, confiscated by Antara.

Bagja made the statement after the Head of Bawaslu West Bandung Regency, West Java, Riza Nasrul Falah was arrested by the Cimahi Police for a drug party of the type of methamphetamine.

"The change of members is carried out after the legal process has permanent legal force," Bagja added.

He said the Indonesian Bawaslu was seeking preventive measures so that similar cases would not happen again in the future.

Previously, the Cimahi Police Narcotics Investigation Unit arrested Riza Nasrul Falah and two of his colleagues during a shabu drug party.

"There is a lawyer, then one of them is the owner of the house, and the other is the Chairman of the West Bandung Regency Bawaslu," said Cimahi Police Chief Adjunct Senior Commissioner Tri Suhartanto in Cimahi, Friday.

During the arrest, the police confiscated evidence of methamphetamine weighing 0.84 grams and a suction device.

As a result of their actions, the perpetrators will be charged with Article 112 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 127 of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics, with the threat of a sentence of four years in prison.
