Rain All Day, Floods And Landslides In Several Areas In Sukabumi

SUKABUMI - Sukabumi City Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) recorded heavy rains that hit the Sukabumi City area, West Java until Thursday night causing flooding in seven locations.

"We have deployed a number of officers to deal with the flood disasters that occurred at these seven points," said Sukabumi City BPBD Chief Executive Novian Rahmat as quoted by ANTARA.

The seven locations affected by the flood disaster were Kampung Balandongan, RT 02/03, Sudajayahilir Village, Baros District, Palabuan II Street, Cikujang Village, RT 04/13, Dayeuhluhur Village, Warudoyong District.

Then in Kampung Pangkalan, RT 02/06, Sudajayahilir Village, Cikondang Village, RT 08/02, Cikondang Village, Citamiang District, Pangkalan Village, RT 01 and RT 03/06, Cipanengah Village, Lembursitu District, Santiong Village, RT 04 and RT 05/07, Cipanengah Village.

Floods submerged a number of houses in Purnawiraasri Housing, RT 02/05, Cipanengah Village. In addition to flooding, heavy rains that fell almost all day long also triggered landslides in Cikujang Village.

According to Novian, the number of residents and buildings affected by the hydrometeorological disaster is still being collected. The local BPBD has not received any information on injuries or fatalities.

Floods hit a number of areas in Sukabumi following heavy rains and were exacerbated by the condition of waterways such as sewers, culverts and other drainages that did not function normally due to stagnation.

In addition to evacuating disaster survivors, BPBD officers who were deployed to the location also normalized the waterways so that floods could be resolved immediately.
