Metro Police Chief Issues Declaration, Convoys To Play Fireworks Prohibited During Ramadan

JAKARTA - Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Karyoto issued an announcement regarding activities that were prohibited during Ramadan 1446 Hijri or 2025. Some of these activities were convoys to play fireworks

Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Ade Ary Syam Indradi said the announcement was registered with the number Mak/01/III/2025 which was issued on March 5, 2025.

"In an effort to maintain security and public order in the jurisdiction of the Polda Metro Jaya during the month of Ramadan, the Metro Jaya Regional Police Chief issued an announcement," Ade told reporters, Thursday, March 6.

In addition, the announcement was also issued to prevent security disturbances that often occur during Ramadan. For example, the Sahur On The Road convoy which has the potential to cause a brawl between groups.

"In order to maintain the peace and comfort of the community in carrying out fasting," said Ade.

Meanwhile, the contents or sounds of the announcement issued by the Metro Jaya Police Chief are

1. That to provide protection to the community, in order to maintain the peace and comfort of the community in carrying out fasting and anticipate community activities that are misused so that they can disrupt public order, then prohibited from carrying out activities as follows:

a. Prohibition of convoy as regulated in Law Number 22 of 2009 concerning Road Traffic and Transportation, Article 134 letter g which reads 'Convoys and/or vehicles for certain purposes according to the consideration of Indonesian State Police officers';

b. Play firecrackers / fireworks as regulated in the 1932 Fierce Law;

c. Gather or crowd while waiting for breaking the fast and sahur which can cause disturbances in public security and order such as:

Wild rain as regulated in Article 115 and Article 297 of Law Number 22 of 2009 concerning Road Traffic and Transportation

The brawl is regulated in Article 170, 351, 355, 358 of the Criminal Code which is a form of crime, and Article 489 of the Criminal Code which is a form of violation.

2. That if an act is found that is contrary to this announcement, members of the Polda Metro Jaya can take police action in accordance with the provisions of Article 212 of the Criminal Code, Article 216 Paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code and Article 218 of the Criminal Code. This announcement was conveyed to be known and obeyed by all people in the jurisdiction of the Polda Metro Jaya.
