Update On COVID-19 As Of April 12: A Number Of Cities Propose PSBB

JAKARTA - Spokesperson for the COVID-19 Handling Task Force Achmad Yurianto explained the latest data on the handling of corona virus patients in Indonesia. As a result, there were an additional 399 positive cases throughout Indonesia, bringing the cumulative total to 4,241 cases.

The most additions occurred in the East Java region with 119 positive cases. Then, DKI Jakarta followed with 96 cases.

Meanwhile, the number of patients who were declared cured of COVID-19 increased by 73 people. That way, the total number of patients who recovered reached 359 people. Meanwhile, the number of patients who died reached 373 people.

In addition, Yuri said that in efforts to prevent and handle COVID-19, a number of cities have proposed implementing Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB). If approved by the Minister of Health (Menkes) Terawan Agus Putranto, there are three cities in the Banten Province that will follow DKI Jakarta in implementing the PSBB.

"Today we are processing the PSBB for Banten Province, both in Tangerang City, Tangerang Regency and South Tangerang City," Yuri said in a press conference at Graha BNPB, East Jakarta, Sunday, April 12.

According to the procedure, the PSBB application will be reviewed first by a team from the Ministry of Health and other ministries / agencies. According to Yuri, if the PSBB application is approved, it is hoped that it can facilitate controlling the spread of COVID-19 in the Jabodetabek area.

"So that the Jabodetabek COVID-19 cluster can be more integrated. So that it can make it easier for us to control the epidemiological aspects," said Yuri.

Prior to this, the Ministry of Health had also approved the implementation of the PSBB status for five regions in West Java, namely the City of Depok, Bogor, Bekasi, Bogor Regency, and Bekasi Regency. The implementation of the PSBB will take effect on Wednesday, April 15 2020.

"For PSBB, (the West Java Provincial Government) prioritizes (the regions) that stick to Jakarta first, because whatever Jakarta does we have to be on one frequency. In one agglomeration, there must be a decision," said the Governor of West Java, as quoted from era.id.

The man who is familiarly called Emil said the PSBB for West Java Province will be valid for 14 days and will be re-evaluated seeing the situation in the field. In addition, Emil said that his party had agreed to plan a curfew as an effort to increase physical distancing in the regions.
