Visiting Flood Refugees In East Jakarta, Pramono Reminds Residents There Is Potential For Extreme Rain Until March 20

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung met flood-affected residents at the Otista Sports Hall, East Jakarta, which was one of the evacuation posts. During a dialogue with residents, Pramono warned that the potential for extreme rain would occur again in the next few days.

Pramono said the potential for high rainfall that will occur until March 20 based on the forecast of the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).

"For information to all of you, from March 11 to March 20, the BMKG estimates that there will be high rainfall again," said Pramono at the Otista Sports Hall, East Jakarta, Wednesday, March 5.

Pramono admitted that he had ordered his staff to anticipate and minimize the impact of the potential heavy rain that will hit Jakarta again.

"I am not frightening, but scientific information. What is clear is that the provincial government will anticipate from the start and minimize the possibility of its impact," said Pramono.

On that occasion, Pramono said that the DKI Provincial Government would again carry out weather modification operations (OMC) to reduce the intensity of rainfall in Jakarta in the next few days.

The DKI Provincial Government has previously been running OMC for several days from February 14 to 21. OMC is also carried out from February 1 to 6.

"We will modify the weather so that the rain is not above, but we will push it into the sea. Hopefully whatever the Jakarta government does will bring benefits to all of us," explained the former Cabinet Secretary.

"So if then residents will return to their respective homes, they are welcome, but the Jakarta Provincial Government will anticipate the information obtained from the BMKG," he added.

After visiting the evacuation post, Pramono said he wanted to ensure that all basic needs of the people affected by the flood could be met.

"From reports directly from residents, they all get the best service, there is no shortage whatsoever. Enough food, they can also break the fast, get enough sahur, and even think more," he added.
