JAKARTA - China asks Britain to immediately correct wrong actions, related to the British Parliament's motion asking the government to take action to end what is believed to be genocide in China's Xinjiang region.
In a statement via the Chinese Embassy in Britain Friday, April 23, the Land of the Bamboo Curtain called the baseless accusations by a handful of members of the British Parliament regarding genocide in Xinjiang as absurd lies.
"This is an outrageous humiliation and insult to the Chinese people, and a serious violation of international law and basic norms governing international relations," said the Chinese Embassy in Britain.
"China strongly opposes British overt interference in China's domestic affairs," the statement stressed.
Earlier, Britain's Parliament on Wednesday called on the British Government to take action to end what has been described as genocide, while calling on British ministers to go further in criticizing Beijing.
However, Prime Minister Boris Johnson's Government has once again avoided genocidal claims about Xinjiang. Ministers say any decision declaring genocide is in court.

In a statement, China's Foreign Ministry sanctioned four entities and nine individuals in Britain, including former Conservative Party leader Iain Duncan Smith and the Conservative Party's Commission on Human Rights.
