The Merangin Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Jambi, arrested a man who practiced misuse of subsidized Pertalite fuel oil (BBM).
Merangin Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head AKP Mulyono said the perpetrator was arrested while transporting subsidized Pertalite fuel oil (BBM) using a modified car.
From the arrest on Thursday last week, the authorities found 16 jerry cans containing subsidized fuel that will be resold to the public. The perpetrator with the initials SR is a resident of South Tabir District, Merangin, Jambi.
The arrests began with public reports regarding the rise of cars carrying subsidized fuel to be resold. From this information, the police conducted an investigation and arrested the perpetrators.
From the investigation, the authorities found out that the perpetrators bought Pertalite fuel from gas stations using a modified car in the fuel tank. The subsidized fuel was then collected in 16 jerry cans of plastic with a total of 560 liters.

The Head of Criminal Investigation Unit said that when examined, the perpetrator admitted that the fuel would be resold to the community with a profit of Rp. 2,000 per liter.
The perpetrators were charged with Article 55 of Law Number 6 of 2023 concerning the stipulation of government regulations in lieu of Law Number 2 of 2022 concerning job creation.
