Polemic Of Access To Kapuk Raya-PIK 1, Minister Of PKP Gives Deadline Until March 15

JAKARTA - Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait (Ara) asked the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to immediately make a decision to determine the location for the construction of the Kapuk Raya-PIK 1 access road.

The Minister of PKP said that those who have the authority to determine the location and land acquisition for the construction of access roads are the Jakarta Regional Government.

"For that I ask that the decision be made as soon as possible. I will return again on March 15, 2025, to follow up on the progress," said Minister Ara, quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, March 2.

He stated this after a meeting with North Jakarta Mayor Ali Maulana Hakim representing the Jakarta Regional Government, North Jakarta Metro Police Deputy Chief AKBP James H. Hutajulu, and a number of representatives from residents in Kapuk Muara Village, North Jakarta on March 1, 2025.

Determination of the location is needed as a follow-up to the agreement regarding the opening of access to Jalan Kapuk Raya to Pantai Indah Kapuk 1 (PIK 1) in Kapuk Muara Village, Penjaringan District, North Jakarta.

The agreement is the result of mediation between the residents of Kapuk Muara Village and PT Mandara Permai and PT Lumbung Kencana Sakti at the Kapuk Muara Village Office, last Wednesday (19/2/2025) led by the Minister of PKP Maruarar Sirait with the Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian.

Minister Ara advised the local government not to displace local residents' houses in determining the location.

"Set an easy location for access for all. Also as much as possible very few people's houses that need to be evicted or if necessary without needing to be evicted. In my opinion, it should also be considered by the Mayor," he said.

On this occasion, Minister Ara also asked the police, represented by the North Jakarta Police, to immediately decide on solving the problem of building stones near the PIK 1 housing wall.

"For investigations, it is the authority of the police to resolve the problem of congestion of stones, which is said by residents to close the waterways," said Ara.

"If we, the Ministry of PKP, are assigned to oversee the search for the best decision on this issue according to President Prabowo's instructions. I will return on March 15, 2025," added Ara.

The Minister of PKP emphasized that the main principle in opening access roads is the inclusiveness and welfare of the community. There should be no exclusive separation between complex residents and local residents.

If the road access is opened, it must be used by the entire community with the rules mutually agreed upon.
