Ukrainian Military Attacks Russian Tuapse Oil Refinery, 40 Explosions Sounded

JAKARTA - The Ukrainian military attacked Russia's Tuapse oil refinery on the coast of the Black Sea. 40 explosions were recorded at the site.

Tuapse is the location of one of Russia's largest oil refineries, which has been targeted by Ukrainian drones several times.

As reported by Reuters on Wednesday, February 26, the Ukrainian military also said it attacked two military airfields in Russia-controlled Crimea but gave no further details about the attack.

Earlier, Russia said its troops shot down 83 Ukrainian drones overnight in the southern region of Krasnodar, including the Tuapse port.

Governor Krasnodar Veniamin Kondratyev said three residential houses had been damaged in the area, but there had been no reports of injuries.

Russian aviation watchdog Rosaviatsia said the international airport in Sochi, about 150 km (93 miles) southeast of Tuapse, had been briefly closed for air traffic to ensure air safety.

Russia's Defense Ministry said a total of 128 Ukrainian drones had fallen on Russian territory overnight.

The Russian Telegram SHOT news channel reported the Ukrainian drone was aimed at the Tuapse port area and residents heard about 40 explosions which they said sounded like an air defense system was operating.

Reuters was unable to independently verify the SHOT report.
