Vice President Asks Regional Heads To Beware Of Scarcity Ahead Of Ramadan

JAKARTA - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka asked all regional heads to be aware of the scarcity and price spike in staple goods ahead of Ramadan which is expected to fall on March 1, 2025.

In the briefing during the retret of regional heads at the Military Academy, Magelang, Central Java, Gibran emphasized that there is a need for coordination and steps to prevent scarcity and keep the prices of goods affordable.

Gibran also highlighted the importance of preparing for smooth traffic and supporting infrastructure during Eid homecoming and backflow.

The vice president advised regional heads to coordinate closely with all stakeholders to ensure smooth, security, and community comfort in carrying out the homecoming tradition to their hometowns.

"Don't let there be a shortage of fuel. Don't let the accumulation be exported, for example, very carefully," said Vice President Gibran to all regional heads of retret participants as reported by ANTARA. Wednesday, February 26.

In the briefing, the Vice President spoke about the importance of synergy between the central and regional governments, then Gibran also highlighted several priority government programs including MBG and stunting elimination.

Several other issues were also raised by Gibran in the briefing session, including the active role of regional heads to maintain and maintain tolerance in their respective regions, and effective regional governance by utilizing technology such as e-catalog for procurement.

"I need to underline this, ladies and gentlemen. Based on PP (Government Regulation) Number 42 of 2024 (in) October 2026, (procurement) goods and services with certain provisions must have halal certification," said Gibran.

Therefore, the Vice President asked regional heads, especially in areas where the majority of Muslim citizens develop strategies to accelerate halal certification in their respective regions.

"So later, I beg you, ladies and gentlemen, give affirmations, and also I ask for your cooperation, ladies and gentlemen, to synergize with the Head of the Agency," continued Gibran.

The head of the agency called Gibran referred to the leadership of the Halal Product Guarantee Administration Agency (BPJPH), a government agency authorized to issue halal certificates.
