NTB Provincial Government Bans Passenger Ships On East Lombok Route Pulling Cellphone Charger Rentals

NTB - The Provincial Government (Pemprov) of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) prohibits ferry operators from leasing cellphone charge (HP) and renting mattresses or beds for passengers.

Head of the NTB Transportation Service (Kadishub) Lalu Moh Faozal said the ban was binding on the cross-labor of Kayangan Port, East Lombok and Poto Tano, West Sumbawa.

"All ships are strictly prohibited from renting out pillows, mattresses, mats, and rooms to service users on board," said Head of the NTB Transportation Service (Kadishub) Lalu Moh Faozal in Mataram, NTB, Wednesday, February 26, as reported by Antara.

He explained that the ban was contained in letter Number 500.11/226/Dishub/III dated February 20, 2025. The letter was addressed to the head of the Kayangan-Poto Tano crossing shipping company.

"It is forbidden to charge in any form on board. Because passengers have already paid for tickets. So it's finished with the ticket. Don't let him do anything else on the ship to charge passengers. We have strictly banned it," he said.

In addition, Faozal emphasized that the entire fleet of ships belonging to PT Transport Sungai, Lake and Crossing (ASDP) was also prohibited from charging cellphones while on board.

"If we find a ship operator that charges costs, it will be immediately reported to the NTB Transportation Service. If we are still holding it, we don't have to give it a sail," he said.

Not only that, his party also prohibits hawkers from selling on ships. Likewise with buskers. Because all this is done for the convenience of passengers during the voyage.

"That's the rule. If it is found, it will violate us, we will evaluate it," he said.
