JAKARTA - The head of UN human rights expressed full support for Indonesia to play a role in resolving the issue of Myanmar and Rohingya together with ASEAN.

In a statement, the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, the UN High Commissioner (KT) expressed his views on the impact of the current global dynamics on the human rights agenda at the global level, recording and appreciating Indonesia's progress through the National Strategy for Business and Human Rights.
KT HAM also expressed hope that Indonesia could continue to play an important role in encouraging the promotion of human rights, good governance and respect for the principles of the UN Charter.
"In particular, KT HAM also hopes that ASEAN can play a more role in efforts to resolve the Myanmar issue and fully support Indonesia's role in this matter, including in handling the Rohingya issue," said the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement as quoted on Tuesday, February 15.
"KT HAM offers its readiness to contribute to the handling of the human rights situation in Myanmar," added the ministry.
Meanwhile, Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono told the Head of UN Human Rights that human rights issues are one of the priorities of the Indonesian Government.
"The Indonesian government has made the issue of human rights one of the priority issues," said Foreign Minister Sugiono.
