Police Arrest 2 Iranian Citizens In Bali Who Are Capable And Robbed Of Their Compatriots

GIANYAR - Gianyar Police, Bali, arrested two Iranian men, with the initials MNB (51) and JG (51) who arrested a man who was also from Iran with the initials RAN.

Gianyar Police Chief AKBP Umar said the case began when the victim RAN was found unconscious in the Ketewel area, Gianyar Regency, Bali, on Sunday (16/2).

"From the team's search, it was discovered that one of the perpetrators was MNB and the other was JG. Initially, both were informed that they came from Turkey, but after further investigation, it turned out that they came from Iran," said AKBP Umar, Monday, February 24.

The perpetrator and the victim are known to know each other. On January 27, 2025, the perpetrator was picked up by the victim at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport and they were staying at a hotel in the Kuta area.

They then rented a rented house in Banjar Tegeha, Batubulan, Gianyar Regency.

There, the perpetrators of MNB and the victim were involved in an argument because of their previous problems related to fraud in the manufacture of fake passports from the suspect's wife MNB.

The suspect MNB asked for his money back, but the victim did not fulfill it.

On Sunday (16/2), the suspect MNB smothered the victim's mouth while pointing a knife at the victim's neck. Suspect JG also helped him with several punches.

They put the victim in the bathroom to avoid screaming from outside.

Furthermore, the suspect asked the victim to explain where to put the money or other valuables. After that the suspects took the victim's belongings.

After that the victim was put in the trunk of the Avanza car he rented and then left together.

However, on the way, the victim rebelled and tried to escape and took off the bond and opened the back of the car trunk door. The victim who fell was put back in the car.

On the next trip, the victim managed to open the rear trunk door and was seen by residents at the location.

The frightened suspect left the victim bound.

This case was reported to the Sukaweati Police. The police also tracked down and arrested the suspect at Ngurah Rai Airport.

When searched, evidence was found in the form of a cell phone, Rp70 million in cash and a laptop in the suspect's trunk.

"With the discovery of the evidence, both were taken to the Gianyar Police for further investigation. The suspect is known to have arrested and disposed of the victim in Ketewel," he said.

The perpetrator is threatened with Article 365 of the Criminal Code regarding theft with violence, with a maximum penalty of 9 years in prison.
