Commission VI Believes That Prabowo Has Pocketed The Right Name Of The Danantara Leader

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Eko Hendro Purnomo, believes that President Prabowo Subianto has determined the right person to fill the position of Head of the Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency (BPI Danantara). According to him, President Prabowo already has a definite choice regarding this matter.

"I am sure, if asked who will lead BPI Danantara, Pak Prabowo already has the right name. I am sure he will not be wrong in choosing who will lead this institution," said Eko, who is familiarly called Eko Patrio, when met at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, as quoted by ANTARA.

Regarding the views of some people who prioritize the management of BPI Danantara by professionals rather than politicians, in order to be free from political interests, Eko considers this not the right reason. He assessed that both professionals and politicians could have the same bad potential, including in terms of corruption.

"We have learned a lot from experience. Professionals can't be separated from potential mistakes, as well as politicians. The most important thing now is how we work together to develop our SOEs to be better," he said.

Eko also emphasized that the leader of BPI Danantara who will be appointed by President Prabowo must have a deep understanding of the asset management of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN). The leader is expected to maximize the potential of existing assets, so that the value of one asset can develop even greater.

"Leaders of BPI Danantara must know how to manage and develop state assets. For example, how assets that were originally worth one can develop into five or more," he continued.

The main goal of establishing BPI Danantara is to make this institution a SOE superholding that has investment management capabilities equivalent to leading investment management institutions in the world. Eko hopes that BPI Danantara will be able to imitate the success of similar institutions in other countries, such as Temasek in Singapore and Khazanah in Malaysia.

With a total asset value of Rp. 14,000 trillion, BPI Danantara is expected to make a big contribution to the Indonesian economy. "The vision is how to make BPI Danantara an economic power that is not only profitable, but also able to have a big impact on BUMN assets and investments," he added.

Presiden Prabowo Subianto berencana untuk meluncurkan Danantara secara resmi pada Senin (24/2). Diharapkan, Danantara akan menjadi kekuatan ekonomi yang dapat mendukung masa depan Indonesia.

"Danantara is a consolidation of all our economic strengths in BUMN, which will be managed under the name Danantara, Daya Anagata Nusantara," said President Prabowo during a press conference at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Monday (17/2).

The President also explained that 'Daya' means energy or strength, while 'Anagata' means the future. Therefore, Danantara symbolizes the economic power that will shape Indonesia's future, with the management of state wealth that is efficient and wise for future generations.

The establishment of BPI Danantara is regulated in the Draft Law (RUU) on the Third Amendment to Law Number 19 of 2003 concerning SOEs, which has been ratified at the 12th DPR RI Plenary Meeting of Session II Session Year 2024/2025 on February 4, 2025.
