JAKARTA The Golkar Party emphasized its support for the treatment program for newly appointed regional heads.
Deputy Chairperson of the Golkar Party, Idrus Marham, stated that this activity is part of a work orientation that aims to build professionalism, increase insight, and provide briefing for regional heads before carrying out their duties.
"This treatment is a very functional program. It's not just an event, but part of a government system that must be run with synergy and coordination," said Idrus in his statement in Jakarta, Friday, February 21.
He added that the Golkar Party had ordered all its cadres who served as regional heads to take part in the retreat.
For regional heads who are not party cadres bearing the banyan symbol but carried out in the 2024 Pilkada, Golkar still urges them to participate. Idrus emphasized that this retreat is a government program that must be carried out for the effectiveness of local governments.
A number of regional heads from the PDI-P (PDIP) have postponed their participation in the retreat in Magelang.
In this regard, Idrus acknowledged that there were questions from several regional heads who won the 2024 Pilkada as a result of the coalition with Golkar. One of them is from Tangerang City, where the mayor came from Golkar and his deputy from PDIP.
In response, the Golkar Party emphasized that the elected regional heads have the main obligation to serve the people and build their regions.

Idrus said the Golkar Party still adhered to the decision of its cadres to follow the regional head's retreat in Magelang, while the non-cadre regional heads promoted by Golkar were expected to participate in the sake of an effective and professional government.
