Rano Karno: If The People Of Jakarta Want To Live In Flats, The Problem Of Slums Will Be Solved

JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Rano Karno assessed that the facilities for simple rented flats (rusunawa) owned by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government are quite good. So, naturally, the people of Jakarta who do not have a house can live in flats so that the needs of housing in Jakarta are resolved.

"This is one of the facilities, if all people in Jakarta want to be in the flats, all confidence will be completed," said Rano after visiting the Pesakih Flats in Cengkareng, West Jakarta, Friday, February 21.

As of January 2025, it was noted that the DKI Provincial Government has 41 flats in Jakarta, details of 2 flats in Central Jakarta, 12 flats in North Jakarta, 6 flats in West Jakarta, 19 flats in East Jakarta, and 2 flats in South Jakarta.

Of all the existing flats, there are 33,830 units of 87 rusunawa towers provided with an occupancy of 24,856 units.

Thus, Rano considered the need for more socialization to the public regarding facilities in the flats and residential registration mechanisms.

"It's just a matter of what the people of Jakarta want? Well, that's what we do socialization. Then after this, it must be maintained, clean, all kinds of things," said Rano.

Before visiting the flats, the man who is familiarly called Bang Doel also visited the Krukut River segment of Jalan NIS, East Cilandak, Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta. Rano said he would dredge all the times in Jakarta to control flooding.

"Indeed, from the beginning the transition team and I asked for it, the first time it was some flooded areas. Jakarta is actually a climate danger. That's why yesterday I went to the Muara Angke Reservoir, then to Pluit, today I came here. That is, of course there must be a change," said Rano.
