Former Head Of North Tapanuli Communication And Information Office Charged With Internet Corruption Of IDR 2.83 Billion

The Public Prosecutor's Team (JPU) of the North Tapanuli (Taput) Kejari, North Sumatra, charged the former Head of the Communication and Information Office (Kadis Kominfo) Taput Polmudi Sagala (55), the alleged corruption in the procurement of internet service providers (ISP) amounting to Rp2.83 billion.

"The defendant Polmudi Sagala together with Hanson Einstein Siregar (42), were charged with corruption in the procurement of internet service providers at the Kominfo Office of Taput Regency," said Public Prosecutor's Office of Taput Roni Baringin Tambunan and David Silitonga at the Corruption Court at the Medan District Court, Tuesday, February 18, as reported by ANTARA.

The Public Prosecutor's Office of Taput in the indictment stated that the alleged corruption in the procurement of internet service providers came from the APBD funds for Taput Regency for the 2020 and 2021 fiscal years.

"Initially, this alleged corruption case was a follow-up to the investigation based on the Investigation Order of the Head of the North Tapanuli District Attorney," said Public Prosecutor Roni.

The defendant Polmudi at that time was serving as the Head of the Taput Regency Communications and Information Office as a budget user (PA) for the 2017-2022 period.

"Meanwhile, the defendant Hanson Einstein Siregar is the Head of the Subdivision of the Program and Finance of the Taput Regency Communications and Information Office as the official commitment maker (PPK) for the period 2019 to 2021," explained the prosecutor.

Based on the results of the investigation, the actions of the two defendants caused state losses, namely in 2020 amounting to Rp1,009,959,177, and in 2021 amounting to Rp1,822,543,537.

"So that the total state financial loss for the actions of the two defendants is worth more than Rp. 2.83 billion according to the report on the results of the audit of the BPK Representative for North Sumatra Province," he said.
