Title Of Congress, AHY Ready To Return To Lead Democrats

Chairman of the Democratic Party Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) expressed his readiness to re-lead the party if it became the hope and desire of cadres and voters.

"If that is the hope, the wishes of the cadres, from the voters, namely the chairmen of the DPD in 38 provinces, and also the chairmen of the DPC in 514 districts/cities, yes of course I must accept it with an honor," said AHY at the Presidential Palace complex, Jakarta, Tuesday, February 18 reported by ANTARA.

AHY welcomed the aspirations that came from various regions that submitted their names to return to lead the party.

He said the Democratic Party has always opened up a space for healthy aspirations and democracy, and the congress, which is held once every five years, is part of efforts to continue to build parties that are getting better and more advanced.

"This five-year Congress is also part of efforts to continue to build parties that are getting better and more advanced, after experiencing ups and downs, fallings, joys and sorrows," he said, who said the party congress would be held on February 24-25.

AHY said he was grateful that currently the Democratic Party was also getting the mandate in the national government.

According to him, this has triggered enthusiasm for cadres throughout Indonesia to focus on the success of President Prabowo Subianto's administration, after 10 years the party bearing the Mercy Star symbol was outside the government.

AHY emphasized that this opportunity will not be wasted, and he will try his best to support the President in presenting pro-people policy programs.

"And we will not waste this, we will try our best, in accordance with the ability to be able to help the President and present pro-people policy programs. So I ask for your prayers so that everything goes smoothly," he said.
