Escorting Aid Truck Convoys, 4 Pakistani Soldiers Killed By Militants In Kurram

JAKARTA - At least four Pakistani soldiers were killed in an ambush by militants against a convoy of aid distribution trucks in the volatile area of Kurram.

Citing AFP, Tuesday, February 18, a Pakistani official revealed that the four of them died after an ambush led to a shootout between the military and militants.

A number of trucks that were originally scheduled for Parachinar, the main city of Kurram, were looted and burned.

Qaiser Abbas, a doctor at a hospital in Parachinar, said his party received the bodies of four security forces from Kurram on Monday, February 17 evening.

So far, no militant group has claimed responsibility for the latest attack. However, the military suspected the mastermind of the attack from the Sunni militants.

As for Kurram, at least 130 people have died in clashes in recent months between the hostile Shiites and Sunni in Pakistan.
