JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government ensures that it will continue to provide free homecoming programs for Jakarta residents who return to their hometowns during Eid al-Fitr celebrations in 2025 even though the government is making budget efficiency.

Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo, said that the budget prepared for the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government's free homecoming program this year is worth Rp. 16 billion.

"The target for customers to be served is as many as 22,400 for transportation with passengers and 600 motorbikes for two directions," said Syafrin at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Central Jakarta, Monday, February 17.

Syafrin said that the free homecoming quota for passengers and vehicles provided this year is more than in 2024. For the record, the DKI Provincial Government's free homecoming quota last year was around 18 thousand people.

"As we all know, the demand for free homecoming in 2024 is quite high, and many people have not been served. So in 2025 there will be additions," said Syafrin.

This year, the DKI Provincial Government will send residents to 20 cities in 6 provinces. Some of them are Palembang City, Bandar Lampung, Kuningan, Tasikmalaya, Tegal, Pekalongan, Sragen, DI Yogyakarta, Blitar, to Malang.

The departure of free homecoming passengers will be served as many as 293 buses, while when returning home will be served by 228 buses which are also dispatched from 20 cities to Jakarta.

Meanwhile, for the departure of motorbikes, residents who take part in the free homecoming will be provided using 10 trucks with the aim of adjusting the results of the most city data collection for travelers.

"We know that, based on existing data, the fatality rate of accidents during the Eid transportation period is quite high," explained Syafrin.

"Therefore, with the provision of truck transportation, we hope that travelers who usually use two wheels will use buses and their motorbikes are transported by truck," he added.
