Ojol Driver Asked To Report To Ministry Of Manpower If Partners Break Up

JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Manpower Immanuel Ebenezer Gerungan asked online transportation applicators not to give punishment, suspension or termination of partners to online motorcycle taxis (Ojol) who demonstrated today, Monday, February 17, in front of the Ministry of Manpower Office, South Jakarta.

According to Immanuel, the demonstrations presented by ojol drivers were a form of their aspirations while they were partners.

"We hope that this demonstration will not be a scary thing. Because whatever is done by online motorcycle taxi friends is a form of aspiration that must be fought for by the online motorcycle taxi friends themselves," said Immanuel through loudspeakers, in the front yard of the Indonesian Ministry of Manpower building, South Jakarta, Monday, February 17.

Therefore, Immanuel hopes that ojol applicators will be able to understand what the drivers are doing. Moreover, the demonstration is part of the community's right to convey aspirations.

"So, the applicators must understand that demonstrations are protected by law and constitution in this republic. So there should not be any later when friends take action and then return from this action there is such a thing as sanctions or suspension," he explained.

He emphasized that if online motorcycle taxi drivers get suspended and cut off partners, they must immediately report to their party.

"If there is (determination of partners for participating in the demonstration), report it to us. Agree?" shouted the Deputy Minister of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia

"Agreed," replied the demonstrators.

Dozens of online motorcycle taxi drivers (Ojol) and online couriers consisting of youths to parents held a demonstration in front of the Indonesian Ministry of Manpower (Kemaker) office, South Jakarta (Jaksel), Monday, February 17, at 10.00 WIB.

According to VOI monitoring at the location, a number of ojol drivers were seen using attributes and a command car in front of the Indonesian Ministry of Manpower building.

Demonstrators from the Indonesian Transport Workers Union (SPSI) were also seen. They wear red uniforms.

On the command car, the orator asked the Minister of Manpower to provide allowances to ojol drivers.

In addition, they also asked the government to provide a circular to ojol companies to provide holiday allowances. As well as providing guarantees for work accidents and death for free.

"Giving a circular to change the application to provide holiday allowances. Urge application companies and provide guarantees for job accidents and death for free," he asked.
