Pregnant Woman Died By Israeli Military In West Bank

JAKARTA - "The phone came in the middle of the night," said Mohammed Shula.

His daughter-in-law, Sondos Shalabi (23), who is eight months pregnant, spoke slowly to the lips of the phone.

"Please, please," Shula recalled what his son-in-law said.

"You have to save us," said Sondos again.

Minutes later, Sondos was shot dead.

Quoting AP, Wednesday 12 February, Shalabi and her husband, Yazan Shula (26), had left their homes as the Israeli military approached the Nur Shams refugee camp, a dense urban district in the city of Tulkarem, the northern West Bank, in the early hours of Sunday.

Days earlier, Israeli military vehicles had surrounded the refugee camp.

The escalation of violence has escalated across Israel's occupied northern West Bank region since the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in Gaza took effect last month.

Israel's Defense Minister (Menhan), Israel Katz, has announced the expansion of its military operations in Israeli-occupied territory under the pretext of stopping Iran's Hamas ally to open a new front in the West Bank.

Palestinians who saw the shooting of Shalabi said this incident kept repeating itself. They are worried that the Israeli military is practicing deadly tactics because they like to fight in the West Bank.

In response to this incident, the Israeli military issued a brief statement confirming the truth of a pregnant Palestinian woman being shot dead in the West Bank. Israel said it would refer the incident to the military police for a criminal investigation.

Another Female Victim Dies

On the same day, not far from the scene, another Palestinian young woman (21) was killed by the Israeli military. An explosive device he planted exploded as the young woman approached the front door of his house.

In response, the Israeli military claimed there was a militant wanted to be in the house. Aggressive action was taken by breaking down the door and arguing the woman did not leave despite being warned.

The Israeli military then expressed regret for any losses caused by civilians who were not involved.

According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, across the West Bank and East Jerusalem, at least 905 Palestinians have died as a result of an act of embezzling Israeli soldiers since the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023 sparked war in Gaza.
