Members Of The Indonesian Navy Evacuate 3 Karat Iron Searchers Who Died In Toxic Gas For Tongkang Ships

The ranks of the Indonesian Navy through the Palu Navy Base (Lanal) together with the joint SAR team evacuated three victims who were trapped in the main room full of toxic gas on the barge KSS.11 TB.KSS 08 while leaning at PT. Morales Pier, Loli Oge Village, Banawa District, Donggala Regency, Central Sulawesi, Sunday (9/2).

Three victims named Fadel (30), Azril (50) and Ma'ruf (31) died while looking for iron stains on the ship.

Danlanal Palu Marine Colonel (P) Martinus Sir explained that this incident occurred when the victim named Fadel wanted to find iron carat in the main room of the barge at 18.00 WITA, Sunday.

"Fadel, who is a resident of Loli Village, channeled into the main haul (main room) of Tongkang to search for iron carat, even though it has been banned by the ship," said Martinus as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, February 10.

Not long ago, two other people, namely Ma'ruf and Azril, followed Fadel to look for iron stains.

The three victims did not return until they were finally found unconscious at 20.18 WITA in the main room of the ship. They are unconscious, allegedly due to lack of oxygen because the room was caught in the air and contained toxic substances.

Receiving the report, lanal personnel and the SAR team came to the location to evacuate the victims.

Martinus continued, his party carried out the evacuation process carefully because the condition of the room was full of toxic gas.

"At 20.18 WITA until the first evacuation was carried out on the victim Azril was found unconscious and immediately taken by ambulance and upon arrival at the Anutapura Hospital, Palu, the victim was declared dead," as quoted by the press release.

Furthermore, his party managed to evacuate Fadel and Ma'ruf at 20.25 WITA in an unconscious condition.

"Both of them were immediately taken by ambulance to the Anutapura Hospital in Palu but at 21.25 WITA they were declared dead," he continued.
