A Junior High School Teacher In Banjarmasin Becomes A Suspect In A Obscenity Case

BANJARMASIN - Women and Children Protection Unit (PPA) of the Banjarmasin Police Satreskrim, South Kalimantan Police, named an unscrupulous teacher at one of the State Junior High Schools in Banjarmasin as a suspect in the molestation case against three of his students.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Banjarmasin Police, AKP Eru Alsepa, revealed that the suspect with the initials RMS (30), a resident of North Banjarmasin District.

"The suspect admitted to molesting three of his students during Scout activities at Saturday and Sunday's camp at school," said Eru, quoted from ANTARA, Monday, February 10.

Currently, the suspect has been detained for further legal proceedings. Investigators charged him with Article 82 of Law Number 35 of 2014 concerning Amendments to Law Number 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection.

The arrest of RMS was carried out by a joint team from the Banjarmasin Police Satreskrim and Resmob Sub-Directorate III of the South Kalimantan Police Crime Directorate on Wednesday (5/2) night, at around 23.50 WITA, at his home.

Eru explained that the obscenity incident occurred on Sunday (15/12/2024) in the morning, at around 02.30 WITA, during Persami activities at school.

After the incident, the victims told their parents about the incident. After being confirmed and acknowledged by the three victims, this case was reported to the Banjarmasin Police.

"We have received the sexual abuse report and currently the perpetrator who is also an unscrupulous teacher has been arrested by the Banjarmasin Resta Tiger Team and the South Kalimantan Police Resmob," said Eru.
