The Constitutional Court Rejects The Lawsuit Of The Morowali Regional Head Election, Iksan-Iriane's Attorney: As Estimated

JAKARTA - The Constitutional Court (MK) rejected the lawsuit for the 2024 Pilkada dispute in Morowali Regency which was proposed by candidate pair number 1, Taslim-Asgar Ali, against pair number 3, Iksan Baharuddin Abdul Rauf-Iriane Iliyas.

Iksan-Iriane's attorney, Zain Maulana, revealed that he had predicted the Court's rejection of the lawsuit against the results of the vote in the Morowali Pilbup. According to him, the lawsuit filed by Taslim-Asgar Ali did not match what happened.

"The results of today's trial are quite satisfactory. In accordance with the estimate (will be rejected). Because at the time of the lawsuit process we have checked from their petition and their evidence is not relevant," Zain told reporters, Thursday, February 6.

In the trial of case number 159/PHPU.BUP-XXIII/2025 Taslim-Asgar Ali camp revealed allegations of money political violations. It was stated that three members of the Morowali Regency KPU were suspected of receiving hundreds of millions of rupiah in cash from candidate pair number 3, Iksan-Iriane.

Meanwhile, during the reading of the putsan, the Constitutional Court rejected the lawsuit and did not continue the trial process.

"Declare that the petitioner's application is unacceptable," said the Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court, Suhartoyo at the Constitutional Court Building, Wednesday, February 5.

Constitutional Court Judge Enny Nurbaningsih explained that the argument proposed by Taslim-Asgar Ali was not proven.

"With regard to the petitioner's argument that questioned the alleged money politics involving some of the organizers, the Court observed that all alleged violations had been processed and resolved by Bawaslu Morowali. Most of them were not proven as election violations. Thus, this application has no basis," said Enny.

Enny continued, the alleged election violation had previously been reported by the Taslim-Asgar Ali camp to the Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu). The report has been processed and decided by the district court, and the results are also not in accordance with those submitted by Taslim-Asgar.

With this decision, the Iksan-Iriane Iliyas pair, remain the winner of the 2024 Morowali Pilbup. Based on the results of the General Election Commission (KPU) vote recapitulation, Iksan-Iriane Iliyas received 33,350 votes, Taslim-Asgar Ali 30,411 votes, Kuswandi-Syahnil Umar 21,362 votes, and Abdul Rachman Syah Ismail-Harsono Lamusa 16,963 votes.
