PEKANBARU - As many as four Indonesian citizens (WNI) are still detained and undergoing treatment in Malaysia after being victims of a shooting by the Malaysian Maritime Strengthening Agency (APMM).

The four Indonesian citizens are MH and AR from Aceh, MZ from Riau, and AH who is suspected of originating from the Riau Islands (Kepri).

Meanwhile, another victim, Basri (50), has been buried in his hometown in Terkul Village, Rupat District, Bengkalis Regency, Riau.

Head of the Riau Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Service Center (BP3MI), Fanny Wahyu, said that the condition of MH and AR is still critical, while MZ and AH are starting to improve and can be invited to communicate.

"Two victims have been able to communicate and provide information regarding the actual incident. Based on MZ's testimony, Indonesian citizens did not attack the Malaysian APMM apparatus, in contrast to the claims previously submitted by Malaysia," said Fanny.

The Indonesian government through BP2MI urges Malaysian authorities to be transparent in revealing the chronology of events.

"Representatives of BP2MI through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Indonesian Embassy continue to oversee this case, ensure that the victims receive proper treatment and seek clarity regarding the actual incident. The government will continue to guard until the victims are completely recovered and can return to Indonesia," he added.

To prevent similar incidents in the future, BP3MI Riau urges people who want to work abroad to take an official route.

If you want to work abroad, obey the rules, procedures, and requirements that have been set. Avoid individuals or syndicates offering jobs instantly or illegally. By following government regulations, migrant workers can get maximum protection," concluded Fanny.
