JAKARTA - Political observer Karyono Wibowo assesses that the discourse of volume 2 reshuffle will definitely be realized by President Jokowi in the near future. However, a cabinet reshuffle is likely to widen until a re-shake occurs.

"The reshuffle will definitely happen, especially for the investment minister, there must be a new minister, National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) of course there will be new posts to be filled. Regarding the Ministry of Investment, Karyono suspects that President Jokowi already has his own name. Because the president often makes decisions that are difficult to predict. Meanwhile, Bahlil Lahadalia, who was predicted to fill the ministry's post, could have been kicked out of the cabinet.

"Bahlil, who is currently the head of BKPM, could become investment minister or could also be expelled. But it seems that there might be a shift if the BKPM institution is merged. Of course this is difficult to predict because the president's decisions are sometimes beyond predictions," said Karyono.

The Executive Director of the Indonesian Public Institute (IPI) actually thinks that the Minister of Trade Muhammad Lutfi will be moved to become the investment minister.

"It could also be that the investment ministry is filled with Lutfi, who is now the trade minister. Judging from the public's assessment, Lutfi is recommended to be removed because of the controversial rice import issue. It is considered a failure in Lutfi's performance to become a trade minister," he explained.

Although criticized for his controversial import policies, Lutfi is still considered politically strong enough to stay in government.

"But, Lutfi's back-up position is strong, especially among businessmen, among economic actors, Lutfi's name is no longer foreign. He has influence in the investment sector. This seems to be a slice with Sandiaga Uno (menparekraf), Erick Tohir (minister of BUMN) even with Bahlil," he continued.

According to Karyono, the 4 ministers for the economy are still strong enough to stay in the cabinet. It has even become a mainstay for Jokowi to attract state opinion and accelerate investment.

"These 4 people have a strong enough position because in the second term President Jokowi relied on investment, economy-oriented, so that Jokowi accommodated several influential figures in the business world such as the 4 people.

It is known, 4 friends namely, Minister of Trade Muhammad Lutfi, Minister of BUMN Erick Tohir, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Uno, and Head of BKPM Bahlil Lahadalia are both involved in the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (Hipmi).

"So the 4 people seem unshakable, except for Lutfi, because they are controversial, they might move their positions," said Karyono Wibowo.
