JAKARTA - Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Muhammad Tito Karnavian emphasized that President Prabowo Subianto wants regional heads resulting from the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Head Elections to be sworn in immediately.

This is important so that elected regional heads immediately work, thus providing political certainty in the regions.

"He (the President) gave instructions to me, the principle of trying as quickly as possible, try to get it as soon as possible so that there is political certainty in the regions, then also for government efficiency so that everything moves immediately," Tito said in a press conference regarding the inauguration of the regional head. , Friday, January 31.

With this political certainty, it is hoped that the business world in the regions can run optimally.

Not only that, but the division of the community due to the implementation of the regional elections can be resolved immediately after the inauguration.

The definitive regional head can also immediately realize the Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD).

For greater simultaneous purposes, the inauguration of regional heads resulting from non-dispute regional elections will be combined with regional heads whose lawsuits are rejected by the Constitutional Court (MK) in a dissal decision.

The Constitutional Court will speed up the discussion of the dissal decision from the original schedule to February 4 and 5, 2025.

Therefore, the inauguration of the non-dispute regional head, which was originally scheduled for February 6, 2025, will be postponed to wait for the results of the dissal decision.

After the decision is issued, the Regional General Election Commission (KPUD) can immediately determine the elected regional head. Likewise, the Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) can immediately propose the inauguration by referring to the provisions of the KPUD.

Regarding the exact date of the inauguration, his party will coordinate with the KPU, the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu), and the Constitutional Court.

This coordination is to ensure the completion time of handling in each agency.

Tito has also asked for legal opinion from the Supreme Court regarding the inauguration of regional heads.

He hopes that various stages can be accelerated, especially the Constitutional Court in submitting dismissal decisions. "So that the KPU can issue a determination [elected regional head] based on the determination of the Constitutional Court regarding dismissal," he concluded.
