BMKG: Most Of Indonesia Potentially Raining Today

JAKARTA The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that most areas in Indonesia will experience rain on Thursday, January 30, 2025. The intensity of rain varies, ranging from light rain to heavy rain accompanied by lightning.

BMKG forecaster, Yohanes Agung, in a statement quoted from ANTARA, Thursday morning, said that a number of major cities are expected to experience light rain.

These cities include Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang, Bengkulu, Pangkal Pinang (Bangka Belitung Islands), Tanjung Selor (North Kalimantan), and Samarinda (East Kalimantan).

"Light rain is also predicted to occur in Palangka Raya (Central Kalimantan), Banjarmasin (South Kalimantan), Palu (Central Sulawesi), Gorontalo, Manado (North Sulawesi), Kendari (South Sulawesi), Ambon (Maluku), Nabire (Papua), Jayawijaya (Central Papua), and Merauke (South Papua)," he said.

Meanwhile, moderate-intensity rain is expected to hit several areas, such as Palembang (South Sumatra), Serang (Banten), Yogyakarta, Denpasar (Bali), Mataram (West Nusa Tenggara), and Mamuju (West Sulawesi).

Heavy rains are expected to occur in Makassar (South Sulawesi), while rain accompanied by lightning has the potential to occur in Surabaya (East Java), Kupang (East Nusa Tenggara), and Pontianak (West Kalimantan).

In addition to rain, several areas are also predicted to experience thick cloudy weather, including Banda Aceh, Medan (North Sumatra), Padang (West Sumatra), Pekanbaru (Riau), Tanjung Pinang (Riau Islands), Jambi, Bandar Lampung, Ternate (North Maluku), as well as Sorong and Manokwari (West Papua).

Yohanes reminded that this weather forecast is common and can change at any time. Therefore, the public is advised to continue to monitor the latest weather information which is updated every three hours through the BMKG Info application.
