Minister Of Law And Human Rights Disbursed Paulus Tannos Twice Submitting Changes To The Status Of Indonesian Citizens

The Minister of Law and Human Rights said that Paulus Tannos had twice applied for citizenship replacement (ANTARA-Good Ahmad Rizaldi)

JAKARTA - Minister of Law Andi Supratman Andi Agtas said Paulus Tannos alias Thian Po Tjhin, who is a fugitive in the alleged corruption case of e-KTP, is still an Indonesian citizen (WNI). Although, he had twice applied for a change in citizenship status.

"I want to convey that there are two times the person concerned wants to apply for citizenship," Supratman told reporters, Wednesday, January 29.

The request for a change was recorded in 2018. At that time, Paulus Tannos was still listed as Tjin Tian Po.

However, the process is never completed. Because Paulus Tannos never completed his requirements.

"However, until today, the person concerned has not completed the required documents," he said.

On that basis, Paulus Tannos is still an Indonesian citizen today. Although, the fugitive in the e-KTP corruption case is also said to have a passport that was not issued by Indonesia.

Moreover, the ownership of passports from other countries does not mean that they immediately abort their status as Indonesian citizens.

"However, that based on the regulation of the Minister of Law and Human Rights, that to release Indonesian citizenship does not apply automatically," said Supratman.

Previously reported, Paulus Tannos, who is the President Director of PT Sandipala Arthapura, was finally arrested by Singaporean authorities after being on the wanted list since 2021. He was named a suspect in the corruption case in the procurement of electronic identity cards (e-KTP) by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in 2019.

At that time he was named by the KPK as a suspect along with three other people, namely Isnu Edhi Wijaya as the former President Director of the Indonesian State Printing Corporation (PNRI); 2014-2019 DPR RI member Miryam S Haryani; and former Head of the Information Technology Technical Team for the Application of e-KTP Husni Fahmi.
