JAKARTA - The Nusantara vaccine, which was initiated by former Health Minister Terawan Agus Putranto, will also cause side effects after the injection.

However, the Director of Services for the Gatot Soebroto Army Hospital, Jakarta, Nyoto Widyo Astoro said that side effects such as fever to nausea were common. He explained this when answering questions related to side effects that occurred in Indonesian vaccine volunteers.

"Because other vaccines also have body stiffness, sometimes they get sick at the injection site, they become weak and so on, all these symptoms may also appear in other vaccines," said Nyoto at the press conference. held in Jakarta, Monday, April 19.

He said this was natural because vaccines were foreign protein substances that entered the body. Nyoto said the body would recognize the substance and the symptoms that appeared were side effects.

"For the symptoms related to Indonesian vaccines, of course all vaccines, because it is a foreign protein, there will be symptoms if it is injected. Then the injection itself will result in, for example, illness and others," said Nyoto.

"It means that it is a side effect but it can be overcome," he added.

Nyoto ensured that all symptoms that appeared to the volunteers would be recorded and reported. Including, the symptoms that arise due to the injection of denditric cells for this COVID-19 vaccination.

"Then it is reported to the office holders, in this case the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM), if the research is carried out, because this is about human research, it will be reported to BPOM," he said.

He also ensured that none of the data reported to BPOM would be covered up. Later, the supervisory agency can measure the feasibility of symptoms related to vaccination.

"And later of course the one who will judge is BPOM, whether this symptom can be feasible and so on in vaccines, yes, but that's a common thing," he concluded.
