Pretrial Trial Postponed Because KPK Not Present, Hasto Kubu: Maybe Too Busy

The PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto's camp did not have a bad attitude regarding the reasons for the absence of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) at the pretrial hearing, today.

Maqdir Ismail, one of Hasto Kristiyanto's attorneys, suspects that the anti-corruption agency was absent because there were other activities.

"We should not be prejudiced against the KPK. Let's respect them, maybe they are too busy so they haven't had time to attend," Maqdir told reporters, Tuesday, January 21.

Another reason for the absence of the KPK legal team could also be because they were preparing evidence. So, at the trial, they can strengthen their excuse regarding the determination of the suspect against Hasto Kristiyanto according to the procedure.

"Maybe they are also preparing sufficient preliminary evidence to refute or confirm their excuse. I think so," said Maqdir.

The South Jakarta District Court has decided to postpone the pretrial hearing of PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto today. Djumyanto's decision as the sole judge was taken because the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) as the respondent was not present.

"Therefore, we have postponed the pretrial case trial number 5 on Wednesday, February 5 (February) 2025 with the agenda of recalling the respondent again because today he has not attended," said Djuyamto.

At the trial, Djumyanto explained that the KPK had written asking for a postponement of the trial since January 16 for three weeks. However, the judge decided that it was only two weeks because there was a long holiday.

"Well, for that we have acted to postpone it only for a maximum of 2 weeks. If we postpone it for a week, we have a holiday, a long holiday," he said.

Previously reported, the KPK developed an interim replacement bribery (PAW) case that ensnared former KPU commissioner Wahyu Setiawan and his fugitive, Harun Masiku. Two people were later named as suspects, namely PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto and Donny Tri Istiqomah who are PDIP cadres as well as lawyers.

It didn't stop there, Hasto was also a suspect in the obstruction of the investigation. He is suspected of trying to obstruct the legal process, one of which is by asking Harun to damage his cellphone and run away after the hand arrest operation (OTT) was carried out.

After becoming a suspect, Hasto's camp filed a pretrial lawsuit. This case is registered with case number 5/Pid.Pra/2025/PN JKT.SEL and Djumyanto acting as the sole judges.
