KPK: Even Though They Are Given An Anti-corruption Award, People Can Still Do Corruption

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has recently frequently visited the offices of a number of political parties. This is done as an effort to strengthen anti-corruption attitudes towards politicians in the country.

Acting Deputy for Enforcement and Community Participation Wawan Wardiana said that strengthening anti-corruption and integrity attitudes is important because nothing can guarantee that people will not commit corruption. In fact, he mentioned that people who get anti-corruption awards can practice rasuah.

"There is no guarantee for people not to be corrupt. People who have been awarded anti-corruption awards can still be corrupted," said Wawan while visiting the DPP office of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) as quoted from his written statement, Monday, April 18.

Furthermore, he explained the reasons for visiting a number of party offices such as PDIP, PPP, PKS, and Gerindra to PSI. Wawan said the visit was part of an effort to implement the political party integrity system (SIPP).

In implementing the SIPP, the KPK also hopes that parties will commit to completing the Tools of Assessment (ToA). To do this, each party forms a team consisting of at least five people and one member will later be appointed as the point of contact.

This system is believed to be able to reduce gaps in corruption among politicians. So that the KPK assesses, all political parties must immediately implement it.

"Why political parties? The reason is that the political parties are the creators of the nation's leaders or policy makers, legislators and represent the voice of the people," he concluded.
