Police Arrest Former Council Member For Carrying Shabu-Shabu In A Cigarette Box

JAKARTA - The Rejang Lebong Resort Police (Polres), Bengkulu, arrested a former member of the local parliament for the 2004-2009 period because he was caught carrying a package of methamphetamine-type drugs.

Head of Rejang Lebong Police, AKBP Puji Prayitno, through the Head of Sindang Kelingi Police, Iptu, Irwan Saragih in Rejang Lebong, Sunday, said the suspect arrested was Er (48), a resident of Air Meles Bawah Village, Curup Timur District.

"The suspect was arrested by the Sindang Kelingi Police Criminal Investigation Unit on Saturday 17 April at around 12.00 WIB," said Irwan.

He said the suspect was secured while passing in front of the Sindang Kelingi Police Headquarters which is on Jalan Lintas Curup-Lubuklinggau.

The suspect was arrested by officers who previously received information from the public regarding drug transactions in the area of the Sindang Kelingi Police, so that an interception was carried out in front of the Sindang Kelingi Police Headquarters.

At that time, the suspect who was passing by in a two-wheeled vehicle from the direction of Lubuklinggau City to Curup was then stopped. After being investigated, a package of methamphetamine-type drugs was found in a cigarette box that was stored in the suspect's trouser pocket.

"During the search, evidence was found that a small package of methamphetamine-type drugs was stored in a cigarette box and in the right trouser pocket, all of which were admittedly belonged to the perpetrator," he said.

The suspect is still being investigated by the Sindang Kelingi Police to find out the origin of the goods and the drug network in the area.
