BALI - Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) Sakti Wahyu Trenggono said there was a fishing association that claimed to have installed a sea fence in the waters of Tangerang Regency, Banten.

"We got the information, he said, was a fishing association. So we are still calling it," said the Minister of KKP in Badung Regency, Bali, Antara, Sunday, January 19.

According to him, the party who claims to have installed a sea fence from bamboo is the unity of the North Coast fishing community (Pantura). However, he continued, the fishing group that had been summoned by the KKP did not attend the call.

His party will ask the police for help in investigating the installation of the sea fence.

"He has been summoned several times by the Director General of PSDKP (Director General of Marine and Fisheries Resources Supervision) but has not arrived. We have asked the police to help us carry out the investigation," he added.

The Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries admitted that he did not know the reason why the fishing group did not attend the summons from the KKP. He also mentioned that until now there is no indication that the installer of the sea fence is from a certain company.

"Nothing yet, it has not been detected there (the company is suspected of installing a sea fence)," he added.

Considering that the call has not been fulfilled, his party has not been able to determine who is behind the installation of the bamboo fence.

"We are conducting an investigation, it can't be fast, we can't accuse a lot of people either," he said.

Currently, the sea fence has been sealed by the KKP to facilitate investigation.

Although about two kilometers of sea fences have been dismantled, the investigation process has not been affected.

"Revocation, wait, if you already know who planted it, it's easier (investigation)," he said.

Previously, on Saturday, January 18, as many as 600 Indonesian Navy personnel and fishermen dismantled the sea fence from the Tanjung Pasir Beach line, Teluknaga District to the coast of Kronjo Beach, Kronjo District. The process of dismantling the sea fence from bamboo was carried out in stages, which had reached two kilometers.

However, currently there is no more activity to demolish the sea fence.
