Nurse At Siloam Hospital Palembang Persecuted, South Sumatra Legislator: Ramadan, Should Be Patient

JAKARTA - Members of the council highlighted the case of mistreatment of a nurse at Siloam Sriwijaya Hospital in Palembang, South Sumatra, which occurred last Thursday, April 15. The incident then went viral on social media.

Member of Commission XI DPR, Fauzi H Amro, admitted that he was concerned and regretted the abuse by the patient's father who was dissatisfied with hospital services.

"I deeply regret the arrogant actions that led to mistreatment of a nurse at a hospital in Palembang," said Fauzi, Saturday, April 17.

The South Sumatra electoral legislator assessed that those concerned as the patient's family should be patient, especially in the holy month of Ramadan. According to him, the public should respect medical personnel who are at the forefront of various diseases. This includes treating patients exposed to COVID-19.

"They were our heroes during the Pandemic era. If you want to be respected, then respect others," said the Nasdem Party politician.

Fauzi also appreciated the police's quick steps in investigating the case and arresting the perpetrators. He hopes that cases of mistreatment of nurses will not be repeated in the future.

"The perpetrator must be punished in accordance with the prevailing laws and regulations, in order to give a deterrent effect to the perpetrator and become a lesson for the general public. So that we hope that similar incidents will not be repeated in the future," said Fauzi Amro.

It is known that the incident of mistreatment of nurses occurred on Thursday, April 15, at around 13.30 WIB at Siloam Hospital in Palembang, South Sumatra (Sumsel). The victim had bruises on her left eye, swelling on her lips, and pain in her stomach.
