Investigate Cause Of Glodok Plaza Fire, Police Summon And Check Whistleblower

JAKARTA - The Criminal Investigation Unit of the Tamansari Metro Police has begun to investigate the fire incident that hit Glodok Plaza Building, Tamansari District, East Jakarta on Thursday, January 16, 2025.

"I'm calling the reporter (to be questioned at the Sector Police) first," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Tamansari Metro Police, Kompol Suparmin, when confirmed by VOI.

Meanwhile, members of the Tamansari Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit will also check the location of the fire to find the cause of the fire.

"Still checking the crime scene (TKP)," he said.

Previously, it was reported that a number of fire engines belonging to the DKI Jakarta Gulkarmat Service were still making efforts to extinguish the fire that burned the Glodok Plaza building, West Jakarta, Wednesday, January 15, evening.

In addition, Gulkarmat officers also continued to evacuate rescues for visitors trapped at the fire site.

"There are seven victims who are still trapped on the 7th floor, while continuing to evacuate," said Acting Head of the Jakarta Gulkarmat Service, Satriadi Gunawan.

Satriadi added that the flames were spreading to other floors after burning the 7th floor of Glodok Plaza.

"Now (the fire) has spread to the 8th and 9th floors," he said.
