Fasting, COVID-19 Vaccination For Muslim Elderly In Garut Is Postponed

GARUT - The Garut District Health Office (Dinkes) said that the implementation of vaccination for the Muslim elderly (elderly) in the area was postponed until Eid. This decision was taken because of fasting considerations.

"After Eid is over, we will carry out gebber to vaccinate the elderly, all of this in Garut Regency will carry out vaccinations," said Head of Disease Control and Prevention (P2P) Garut Health Office Asep Surachman quoted from Antara, Saturday, April 17.

He said that his party still continues to carry out vaccinations targeting public servants, then teaching staff to prepare for face-to-face teaching and learning activities.

"In June all teachers must be vaccinated because it will carry out face-to-face learning, the second one for the elderly will be carried out," he said.

During this Ramadan, he continued, especially for the elderly who are not Muslim, if they meet the requirements, they are welcome to take part in the COVID-19 vaccination that has been prepared by the Garut Health Office.

"Because medical considerations for the elderly who are fasting are considered, we have an opportunity for the elderly who are of a certain ethnicity," said Asep.

He conveyed that the Garut Regency Government is targeting the implementation of vaccination as much as 3/4 of the total population of 1.8 million people who are obliged to vaccinate until December 2021.

In addition to the elderly, he said, the Garut Health Office continues to carry out the COVID-19 vaccination during Ramadan for the target of public servants, such as traders, BUMN workers, athletes, and teaching staff.
