TANJUNG SELOR - North Kalimantan Province (Kaltara) since last 2023, no longer has a village that has a very lagging status.

"Currently, Kaltara has 55 villages with lagging status, 241 villages have developing status, 79 villages have advanced status and 72 villages have independent status," said Zainal A Paliwang.

"This achievement has exceeded the RPJMD (Regional Medium Term Development Plan) target until 2024," he continued.

The governor revealed that from the area of Kaltara, 92.74 percent were village areas or as many as 447 villages spread across 4 districts with 3,296 village government officials (Pemdes).

"Development in villages means the development of most of our provinces. For that, I would like to express my highest appreciation to 3,296 village government officials, for their dedication and hard work in serving the community," he said.

Governor Zainal also explained that the North Kalimantan Provincial Government through the Community and Village Empowerment Service (DPMD) together with related agencies have played an active role and facilitated the Village Government so that they can excel at the regional and national levels.

Currently, the achievements and awards that have been achieved by the village are the first of Malinau Kota Village which won an example village champion to increase the capacity of village officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs. Second, Apung Village in Bulungan Regency won the provincial village competition and participated in competitions at the Kalimanta and Sulawesi regional levels from the Ministry of Home Affairs. Third, Sungai Limau Village, Sebatik Nunukan Regency which was named Anti-Corruption Village by the Indonesian KPK.

"Finally, Sebawang Village, Tana Tidung Regency received a tourism village award by the Ministry of Tourism," he explained.

According to Zainal, these achievements prove that villages in Kaltara are also able to compete and be role models at the national level.

"I congratulate and give the highest appreciation for the hard work and dedication of all parties who have contributed to this achievement," explained the governor.

The governor said the momentum of this Village Day was the right time to preserve local culture and traditions.
