KPK Rejects Request For Postponement Of Investigation Of Hasto Kristiyanto Case

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) refuses to postpone the investigation of the bribery case for the interim replacement (PAW) of members of the DPR and the obstruction to the investigation requested by the Secretary General of PDIP Hasto Kristiyanto. It is certain that the legal process will continue to be ignored by the pretrial lawsuit filed.

"The information we got from investigators that the application was rejected," said KPK spokesman Tessa Mahardhika to reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Monday, January 13.

Tessa explained that the pretrial process, which was the reason for the postponement of the Hasto camp, was considered irrelevant. This is because investigations focus on proving the suspect's actions while pretrial is to test the material even though its nature is allowed.

"It's a separate realm. So this cannot be mixed, it cannot be combined. It does not mean that if the pretrial process is running, the investigation will stop. No. The investigation process continues," he said.

The Hasto camp claimed to have sent two letters to the KPK leadership today, Monday, January 13. One of them, asked the anti-corruption commission to postpone the examination.

Previously reported, the KPK developed a case of alleged bribery related to the interim replacement (PAW) of DPR members involving former KPU commissioner Wahyu Setiawan and his fugitive, Harun Masiku. Two people were named as new suspects, namely Hasto Kristiyanto and Donny Tri Istiqomah, a PDIP cadre as well as a lawyer.

Hasto is also a suspect in the obstruction case of the investigation. He is suspected of obstructing the legal process by asking Harun Masiku to damage his cellphone and run away after the arrest operation (OTT) was carried out.
