Palestinian President Abbas Holds Extensive Talks With Various Parties To Accelerate Ceasefire

Palestinian presidential spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeineh said on Sunday Palestinian leaders had been working to stop the bloodshed and save the Palestinian people from the horror of war, including deaths, destruction and evacuation.

Abu Rudeineh stressed that President Mahmoud Abbas was conducting extensive communications and meetings with various Arab and international parties to speed up a ceasefire agreement that would end Israeli aggression.

These efforts aim to carry out international resolutions, including UN Security Council Resolution 2735, which calls for an immediate ceasefire, sending urgent humanitarian aid to Gaza, the full withdrawal of Israeli troops from the region, enabling the Palestinian State to take full responsibility in Gaza.

"It is time to force the occupational state to end an all-out war against our people in Gaza, stop aggression and abuses in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and stop the ongoing terrorism of settlers against Palestinian lands, people, and holy places," Abu Rudeineh said. , reported from WAFA January 13.

On the occasion, he also condemned Israel, which continues to seize Palestinian land and tax funds, describing the move as a form of piracy.

The spokesman reiterated that compliance with Arab and international legitimacy is very important to achieve security and stability in the region.

Israel launched its attack on Gaza after Palestinian militants led by Hamas attacked its southern region in October 2023, killing 1,200 people and holding more than 250 people hostage, according to an Israeli tally.

Meanwhile, Gaza's medical sources confirmed that the death toll from Palestinians in the enclave since the latest conflict broke out had reached 46,565 people, while injuries reached 109,66o, the majority of victims were children and women.
