PDIP Affirms Attitude Will Not Be The Opposition Of Prabowo Subianto's Government

Chairman of the PDI-P DPP Ahmad Basarah ensured that his party would cooperate with President Prabowo Subianto's administration even though none of his cadres entered the cabinet ranks.

"The PDI-P's political stance towards President Prabowo Subianto's government has also not taken an opposition stance," Basarah said in a press release received by ANTARA, in Jakarta, Saturday.

According to Basarah, Indonesia actually takes a presidential government system that makes opposition terms invalid, especially the opposition system in government.

The term opposition, continued Basarah, is usually practiced in the concept of liberal democracy which uses a parliamentary government system.

Because of this background, the PDI-P ensures that it will continue to support Prabowo's government in order to create an ideal presidential system.

"The PDI-P will continue to cooperate with President Prabowo Subianto's government even though it does not assign cadres or members to be included in his government cabinet," said Basarah.

Apart from the presidential system, the background of good relations between Prabowo and PDI-P General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri is also one of the factors in the emergence of PDI-P support.

"Personal relations between the two national figures, the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia and the 8th will be a bridge for good and effective coordination between the two to guard the interests of the people and the nation even greater," said Basarah.

With the support given to the Prabowo government, Basarah hopes that the PDI-P can make a big contribution in helping the government advance Indonesia.
