PPP Denies Forming An Islamic Axis With PKS But Admits It 'Heat The Machine' Ahead Of The 2024 Election

JAKARTA - The Secretary-General of PPP (Partai Persatuan Pembangunan), Arwani Thomafi, denied that his party would form an Islamic party axis for the 2024 elections.

According to him, the meeting with PKS (Partai Keadilan Sejahtera) was an effort to build national relations, as was the case with the Golkar Party.

"This is part of PPP's commitment to strengthening political civilization with integrity which is based on finding common ground. The main objective is to care for Indonesia and strengthen democracy for the happiness of its citizens", said Arwani, Friday, April 16.

Arwani assessed that political civilization cannot be built alone. Moreover, the political cooperation of the Ka'bah party with other political parties has been carried out well, namely with Islamic political parties and nationalist parties.

"Is the political gathering to carry a figure in the 2024 election? We will not deny that we are preparing for the 2024 election from a long time ago, from a very early age", he said.

Arwani said that PPP only wanted to build political friendship and have a common vision in caring for Indonesia in the future.

"This is certainly far from counter-productive. So we also invite all parties to continue to maintain a friendship, especially in this blessed month of Ramadan", he said.

It is known that the discourse of the coalition axis of Islamic parties in the 2024 elections strengthened after the meeting of PKS President Ahmad Syaikhu and PPP Chairman Suharso Monoarfa, Wednesday evening, April 14.

The two of them did not deny that they both opened up opportunities for a coalition. From there, the discourse of the Islamic axis coalition in the 2024 Election strengthens. Besides, other Islamic parties, such as PKB, also welcomed it.
