Protests Of Soil Oil Leads To Persecution, Head Of Industry And Trade For Halbar Suspects And Detained

TERNATE Polres Halmahera Barat (Halbar), North Maluku, named the Head of the Halbar Industry, Trade and Cooperatives Service (Kadisperindapkop), Demisius Onasis Boky, and a staff member, Rikson Boky, as suspects in the case of mistreatment of a demonstrator, Hardi Dooxim. The two suspects have now been detained.

The Head of Halbar Police, AKBP Erlichson Pasaribu, stated that this case was handled in a transparent and professional manner. "Both have been named as suspects in the alleged beating and persecution of Hardi Do Economy. Now both of them are in prison," said AKBP Erlichson, quoted by ANTARA Friday, January 10.

This case began on Wednesday, January 8, when Hardi Do Economy visited the Halbar Industry, Trade and Cooperatives (Disperindangkop) Office to protest the scarcity of kerosene and allegations of illegal levies (extortion). The protests allegedly sparked the beating and persecution of Hardi by the Head of Industry and his staff.

The incident was recorded and went viral on social media, triggering widespread public attention. The Halbar Police Chief emphasized that the investigation was carried out based on strong evidence obtained in the case title.

The police chief revealed that this case had been upgraded to the investigation stage after investigators pocketed more than two pieces of evidence that were sufficient to determine the status of both suspects.

"The suspect is suspected of violating Article 170 paragraph (1) subsidiary Article 351 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code concerning beatings and persecution," explained AKBP Erlichson. The penalty for the beating case is 5 to 6 years in prison, while for persecution it ranges from 2 to 3 years in prison.

The police chief also said that the first phase case file would be transferred to the West Halmahera District Attorney no later than next week.
