JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan harvested rice with Cilacap Regent Tatto Suwarto Pamuji in Jenang Village, Cilacap Regency, Central Java, Friday, April 16.
The joint rice harvest is an implementation of an inter-regional cooperation program, namely between the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government and the Cilacap Regency Government to maintain rice stocks in Jakarta.
The cooperation to supply rice stocks was carried out by the Gabungan Kelompok Tani Sumber Makmur (Farmer Group), Cilacap Regency, and PT Food Station Tjipinang Jaya, which is a Regional-Owned Enterprise (BUMD) DKI Jakarta.
When holding a press conference after the harvest, DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said that he was working with the Cilacap Regency Government to jointly provide rice for the people in Jakarta.
According to him, this cooperation benefits all parties because it cuts the chain of the rice trading system so that farmers can get a better selling price.
"On the other hand, people in Jakarta will be able to get rice that is more affordable", he said.
He said that this harvest could ensure supply certainty as well as have consequences for price stability.
Thus, inflation, which is often influenced by the price of rice, can become more affordable in Jakarta.
"With this program, it can provide certainty of supply for residents in DKI Jakarta and for farmers in Cilacap who can get benefits, especially from the aspect of price", he said.
Anies also expressed his gratitude to the Regent of Cilacap, Tatto Suwarto Pamuji, for providing support in this cooperation, so that it can increase from year to year.
In this case, this cooperation has been established since 2019 with a land area of 250 hectares, then increased to 500 hectares in 2020, and then in 2021 an area of 1,000 hectares.
"What we saw earlier is a sign that we in Indonesia have extraordinary resources so that God willing, we can achieve food security, especially in DKI Jakarta", he said.
According to him, the collaboration between the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government and the Cilacap Regency Government will continue to develop, so that the people of Jakarta do not have to worry about the availability of rice supplies.
Meanwhile, Cilacap Regent Tatto Suwarto Pamuji said the cooperation would be a challenge for Gapoktan and motivate farmers in Cilacap Regency to be active in farming.
"What happens if the farmers strike, the farmers don't want to anymore. Well, those spirits motivate Cilacap Regency to become a national granary", he said.
