KPK Will Guard The Implementation Of Hajj 2025 According To President Prabowo's Directives

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has stated that it is ready to monitor the implementation of the 2025 Hajj. Coordination with related parties will be carried out to ensure that there is no presumptuous practice.

"KPK is preparing coordination with the Ministry of Religion, the Hajj Agency, and the Hajj Financial Management Agency," KPK Spokesperson Tessa Mahardhika told reporters quoted on Wednesday, December 8.

"This is also of course following up on what was conveyed by the President and the KPK will oversee the process," continued Tessa.

With this process, it is hoped that in the future there will be no corruption or misuse of the budget for the implementation of the pilgrimage. Moreover, the costs incurred by the congregation are now cheaper than the previous year.

"So we are waiting for the process together and we hope that the implementation of the Hajj starting this year and in the future it can run smoothly and can be cheaper," he said.

As previously reported, Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, said President Prabowo Subianto asked the KPK to accompany the Ministry of Religion and the Hajj Organizing Agency (BPH) in organizing the Hajj. The head of the 2025 Hajj Supervisory Team (Timwas) said the move followed the findings and records related to the implementation of the 2024 Hajj by the 2024 Hajj Committee (Pansus) for Hajj Angkat 2024 DPR RI.

"The president has asked the KPK specifically to provide assistance to the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) and BPH so that this year's Hajj will run well," Dasco said in a meeting with the Working Committee (Panja) on the Cost of Organizing Hajj Commission VIII DPR RI at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta, ANTARA, Tuesday, January 7.

One of the notes that is of concern is the non-compliance with the allocation of additional Hajj quotas from the Government of Saudi Arabia set by the government. In fact, the decision was taken after consulting with Commission VIII of the DPR RI.

"We have to be aware of the findings of the previous special committee that then there are collected slots so that those who are entitled to leave can leave without their rights being reduced," he said.
