Viral Dismantling Corruption, Sandi Butar-Butar Fired From The Depok Fire Department

DEPOK Sandi Butar-Butar, officer of the Fire and Rescue Service (Damkar) UPT Cimanggis, Depok City, was fired from his workplace after being known vocally to uncover allegations of corruption in the agency's body. Sandi's dismissal letter, which was considered odd, was sent through a freight forwarding service on December 31, 2024.

Sandi, who once uncovered a corruption case in the procurement of PDL Depok Fire Department shoes in 2021, felt that his dismissal was related to his actions in revealing allegations of misappropriation of funds in the agency. He even protested by unfurling posters asking President Prabowo to expose other corruption allegations at the Depok Damkar Service.

"I am confused, what factors were I fired for? I always go on picket, complete tasks, and even experience burns and fractures while on duty," said Sandi, Tuesday, January 7.

Sandi's attorney, Deolipa Yumara, confirmed that the dismissal was not in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOP). According to him, there was no previous warning, and this step of dismissal was allegedly motivated by hatred due to Sandi's courage to reveal the depravity in his service.

Sandi's dismissal is more like a form of revenge from parties who feel aggrieved by his actions in uncovering corruption cases. We will take legal steps to fight this decision," said Deolipa.

Allegations of corruption in the procurement of equipment reported by Sandi are still in the legal process at the Depok District Attorney's Office. Deolipa ensured that he would continue to oversee this case thoroughly.

Sandi is known as a dedicated firefighter. During his 10 years on duty, he never missed picket and often risked his life in handling fires or rescues.

Sandi's dismissal has sparked public attention, especially on social media, because he is considered a person who dares to reveal the truth even though he faces a big risk.
