JAKARTA - The number of passengers on the Jakarta MRT exploded at the turn of the year some time ago. This was triggered by the celebration of New Year's Eve 2025 which was centered in the HI Roundabout area.

PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) noted that more than 303,000 customers use the Jakarta MRT service which also only applies a tariff of IDR 1.

"The implementation was carried out on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 and Wednesday, January 1, 2025. On the first day, there were around 176,929 customers and 126,416 customers on the second day," said Corporate Secretary Division Head of PT MRT Jakarta Ahmad Pratomo to reporters, Tuesday, January 7.

On December 31, the three busiest stations were recorded at Bank DKI Bank HI Roundabout Station with more than 39 thousand customers, BNI Dukuh Atas Station with more than 31,000 subscribers, and BCA Blok M Station with more than 20 thousand customers.

Meanwhile, January 1, Bundaran HI Station recorded more than 24 thousand customers, Blok M BCA Station with more than 23 thousand customers, and Dukuh Atas BNI Station with more than 21 thousand customers.

After the celebration of the new year January 1 at 00.00-02.00 WIB, long queues snaked up to MRT stations along Jalan Jenderal Sudirman and Jalan MH Thamrin. Officers also limit the entry flow of passengers to prevent buildup in the station.

"This shows the high enthusiasm of the community to use the Jakarta MRT during the anniversary of the New Year," said Pratomo.
